JooYeon Judy Yang's art originates from a contemporary understanding of materials filtered through a romantic, intuitive interpretation of her world. It derives its influences from harmonic systems found in nature and the inner landscapes of the body. Her work contains a complex organic architecture of curved linear patterns and powerful black and white or colorful forms. The drawings and paintings evoke a variety of emotional states based in a full gamut of sources ranging from beauty and joy to ugliness and pain. These images are evidence of her merging of visual traditions wrought from her Eastern lineage and Western experience.
